History

Yaroslavl is one of the most ancient and ancient cities and the pearl of the "Golden Ring" of our country.
It was here that the first Russian theater was created: the Fyodor Volkov Theater - an epoch-making page of national art.
In the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery of Yaroslavl, the manuscript "The Word about Igor's Regiment" was found - a world-class work.

A significant event in the musical life of Yaroslavl was the creation in 2003 of the choir of the Yaroslavl Philharmonic - the choral chapel "Yaroslavia" under the leadership of the Honored Worker of Culture of Russia Sergey Berezovsky.

Chorus Yaroslaviya - a mastery of musical performance, live tonally expressive and natural-current choral speech, musical arts, choral narrative, which is based on the possession of a musical idea, identifying main in choral performance, the combination of music and movement phrases, their expressiveness and meaning.

With the appearance of "Yaroslavia", which has now become one of the best choirs in Russia, it became possible to expand the performed creative repertoire of the Yaroslavl Philharmonic: to stage opera performances, to perform vocal and symphonic works, oratorios, cantatas.

Thanks to the creative support of the artistic director and chief conductor of the Yaroslavl Academic Governor's Symphony Orchestra - People's Artist of Russia, laureate of the L.V.Sobinov Awards and the Irina Arkhipova Foundation Murad Annamamedov, the formation of the Yaroslavl choir began.

Chorus Yaroslaviya together with JAGSO under the guidance of people's artist of Russia M.Annamamedov with great success performed such famous operas as "CIO-CIO-San" Giacomo Puccini, "Othello" by G.Verdi, fragments of Mikhail Glinka's Opera "Ivan Susanin", Borodin's "Prince Igor"; cantata "songs of Kursk", "Pathetic oratorio," "Poem in memory of Sergei Yesenin" G.Sviridov, "Alexander Nevsky" by Sergei Prokofiev; "Requiem" and "the Grand Mass in C minor" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, "Carmina Burana" by C. Orff, "Requiem" by G.Faure, "a Fantasy for piano, chorus and orchestra" Beethoven, "Symphony of Psalms" by Igor Stravinsky.

In 2008, a well-known musician, conductor and teacher, laureate of the L.V.Sobinov Prize, professor of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, was appointed artistic director and chief conductor of the Philharmonic Capella "Yaroslavia" Vladimir Kontarev.
His extensive artistic and artistic experience, wide international recognition and authority have opened up excellent creative prospects for the team.

The Philharmonic Choral Capella "Yaroslavia" is a regular participant of major domestic and foreign international music festivals.
Among them: "INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVALS" by Yuri Bashmet in Yaroslavl, Sochi, Moscow region; "MOSCOW EASTER FESTIVAL" by Valery Gergiev; international festival of contemporary music "MOSCOW AUTUMN"; Festival of arts "TRANSFIGURATION"; "FESTIVAL OF FIVE KREMLINS" in Veliky Novgorod; "FESTIVAL OF MUSIC by J.S.BACH" in Tver; "PROKOFIEV FESTIVAL" in Donetsk; music festivals in Abkhazia, Poland, Estonia, Macedonia...

Overcoming the specific difficulties associated with choral singing, a sense of technical vocal mastery in the freedom of self-expression of the choir, in which a full-fledged, bright, expressive, truly artistic performance becomes possible, puts the Yaroslavia choir on a par with many outstanding choral groups in Russia.



Creative events and friends of the choir

An interesting and fruitful friendship, which the Yaroslavia Choir is rightfully proud of at the present time, has developed with the conductor of the Moscow Theater "Novaya Opera" Dmitry Volosnikov. Under his direction, the musicians performed the following operas: G.Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas", D.Verdi's "La Traviata", M.Mussorgsky's "Boris Godunov", "Khovanshchina", S.Prokofiev's "Ivan the Terrible", and J.R.R. Tolkien.Rossini's "Cinderella."

A special creative event for Yaroslavl residents was the work on the recording of the CD of the opera "Othello" by D.Verdi under the direction of the People's Artist of the USSR, the remarkable tenor of our era Vladislav Piavko.
Yaroslaviya together with JAGSO performed Opera in the Great hall of the Moscow Conservatory.

Another important event in the life of the band was a concert and recording of a video disc with the participation of People's Artist of Russia, soloist of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia Vladimir Matorin.
The concert was held in the Assumption Church of the Novodevichy Monastery in October 2008 with the blessing of Metropolitan Juvenal of Krutitsky and Kolomna.

A close creative friendship connects the artists of "Yaroslavia" with the organist, People's Artist of Russia Lyubov Shishhanova, together with whom the mass of Zh.Langle in the concert hall of the Yaroslavl Philharmonic and in the Catholic Cathedral of Moscow.

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Alexander Kastalsky, the Russian Requiem of Alexander Kastalsky was performed and recorded on a CD in the concert hall of the Yaroslavl Philharmonic together with the Moscow Male Chamber Choir "Kastalsky" under the direction of Alexey Rudnevsky "Fraternal Commemoration".
